Longmont History

Located in Boulder County, Longmont was settled by a group of people that chose to head west from Chicago, and it was founded in 1871. Memberships were sold to raise the money necessary to cover the startup costs of the town. This essentially made the town Colorado's first planned community. This town has always had a smaller-town feel than neighboring Boulder, a feeling which it has retained in spite of recent growth.
